YOU GROW BY MAKING DECISIONS

"It's not what we know but what we do with what we know that changes us. We are the sum total of all the decisions we made in life." Bro. Jeremiah Yoong

A person may be many years going to church but if he does not make the decision to become a Christian, then it will not make any difference to his life.

What we know in our heads must go to our hearts for any transformation in our lives. That journey can only start with a decision.

You have a wife because one day you made the decision to commit and marry the person that you love.
Those who do not want to commit will bring no change to their marital status- they will remain single all their lives.

Your decisions indicate your commitments. The committed ones are those who bet their lives on it. The Bible tells us that those who lose their lives will save it.

Mat 16:25 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for My sake, you will save it.

Not getting your hundredfold yet?

"And the Lord turned the captivity of Job when he prayed for his friends" Job:42:10

Oswald Chambers wrote:

If you are not getting the hundredfold more, not getting insight into God's word, then start praying for your friends, enter into the ministry of the interior. "The Lord turned the captivity of Job when he prayed for his friends." The real business of your life as a saved soul is intercessory prayer. Wherever God puts you in circumstances, pray immediately, pray that His atonement may be realized in other lives as it has been in yours. Pray for your friends now; pray for those with whom you come in contact now.

Secrets of Giving
.
Giving is not losing something you have but a seed you sow for gaining much
.
The type of seed determine the harvest
.
The size of the seed determine the size of the harvest
.
When we let go of what is in our hands, God will let go of what is in His hands... and God's hands are huge
.
Giving is a privilege enjoyed by only the few who have successfully wrestled the spirit of poverty to the ground
.
Isaac sow in the time of famine and he reaped a hundredfold
.
Sow even when in need

Have you a Cause?

Greatness comes to those who have found a cause to live for

and something to die for.
.

The Centre of your cause is the Lord Jesus

.

The Target of your cause is the world

.

The Power of your cause is the gospel

.

The Engine of your cause is the church

.

The Force of your cause is compassion

.

The Enemy of your cause is satan

M.A.D

Dear Church,

I hope you were as touched and inspired as I was last Sunday watching the video clip of Dick Hoyt's dedication and love for his son. Err….I cried. Don’t laugh… many of you cried as well.

Instead of surrendering to the hopelessness of the human condition, the father and son pair were able to turn their circumstances around to touch and inspired many lives all around the world…including mine and yours.

If you examine the lapel of your DNA make-up, you will find the words 'Made in Heaven'. Furthermore you might discover some instructions telling you that you are 'Created to Touch Lives'.

Jesus affirmed it when He commanded us to touch lives just before He ascended into heaven.

Mat 28:18-20 Jesus came and told His disciples, "I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. (19) Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations (or touch lives for me everywhere- Ron Hee’s interpretation), baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. (20) Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Just last week a new sister in Christ told me that my prayers for her made a difference in her business as well as in her relationship with her husband. That amazed and humbled me to think that a simple prayer offered in love can make such a difference.

I do not even remember the full name of the Hong Kong lady missionary (I only knew her as Madam Chan) who touched my life because she was daring enough to start a church in my town which was hitherto filled with hostile idol worshippers who are often her persecutors.

Hopefully, I in turn, am touching other lives and when I get to heaven, I hope someone will say, ‘I was a life that was changed (From ‘Thank you for giving to the Lord’ by Ray Boltz) and touched by God because of you.'

I borrowed the acronym M.A.D. (Make A Difference) from one of our church brothers, Jack Tan who last month, cycled 480km from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Trengganu for charity to three organisations with New Life being one of the beneficiaries. We benefited an average of RM50 for every kilometer he cycled. Not bad, eh? Our brother has caught the spirit of making a difference and touching lives.

Folks, you too are making a difference if we persevere with the spirit of love for one another and help each other grow in the Lord. Your presence, your commitment and your dedication make a difference to God’s work in building His glorious church.

Your giving is making a difference to many nations and your prayers are transforming our nation. The results of the last election did not just happened. It happened because you and I have been praying for the last seven years.

Folks, let us determine that our lives here on earth will not be lived for ourselves but like the Hoyts, let us touch lives and make a difference with our words (power of life and death), our deeds (acts of faith), our prayers (supernatural grace that can move mountains), our hospitality and friendship (‘only love can make a miracle’) and our giving (the key to an overflowing barn) etc.

Stop right now and ask God to use your life to make a difference and touch lives.

Touching Nations, Touching Lives,
Pastor Ron Hee

Healing Anointing on New Life

Two weeks ago, we were connected with Rodney Kirkpatrick from Durban, South Africa and he ministered to our full time staff and pastors on Tuesday morning. His prophetic word of knowledge was excitedly accurate as he pointed and prophesied on every staff present. I am sharing mine here because I believe this word is not just for me but for the New Life church in P.J.:

"I thank you for Ron, for his heart of compassion; for his shepherding gift; for giving him the grace and portion to preside over a real healing anointing in and through this place in the days ahead. Ron, I just hear the Lord saying that there are people healed that are here but the Lord is going to begin to bring to this place people who need healing especially in their hearts. I hear the Lord saying this place will be known as a place for binding up the broken hearts in the days ahead. God says one of the things that He is requiring of you is to teach and to emphasize is transparency. The church has become too religious and we are not willing to get the bad out so that it can be dealt with but I hear the Lord saying to you that if you teach the people that they need to be transparent; the things that are keeping the hurt from being healed will come forward; will get out of the way; and God will make this place a real flame of fire for His healing presence; a real place of refuge in increasing measure and in increasing degree in the days ahead."

Enraptured in God's Presence

I praise God for a wonderful worship experience this morning.
I am so thankful to the Lord for my prayer group that meets with me daily from 11am to 12.30pm or thereabouts when we worshipped and pray for the needs of the church or the nation.
This morning was one of those wonderful times when were so caught up and enraptured in God's presence that we felt we could go on worshipping the Lord Jesus forever.

Those who have experienced it would never complain that there is nothing to do except
to worship the Lord when we get to heaven.

And to think that we had just a mild taste of it compared to actually being in God's presence around His throne.

We started with an old song 'Ah Lord God' which seemed so inappropriate at that time but from then on we seemed to tap into God's wave which led us into the depth of the Lord's presence.

Pastor Patrick's worship anointing with the guitar is God-send.

The Bible said that we enter into heaven's gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise.

Pastor Lily explained that the Lord showed her that the gates of heaven were truly opened to us as we worshipped and that the blessings of heaven were ours to possess.

No wonder 'Worship-Intercession' is so effective.

Sis May felt that we were on 'holy ground' and that there were angels all around.

To those who have an ear let them hear. Let us believe and not doubt

No wonder after we ended the time of worship, I was led by to Spirit to bless the different areas of the church- the leaders, the Youth, the Children, the Myanmar ministry, Puchong Church etc

I thank God for this 'Heavenly' encounter.

Key To Answered Prayers

The Key to Intercessory prayer is for God to get us to the place where the well-being of others is more important than your own.

Faith works through love.

The most effective prayer is one that is offered in love and compassion.

When you feel that 'cry in your heart' and not just 'words from your lips', you will have the assurance that God has heard your prayer.

A broken heart prays the most powerful prayer.

Are we willing to be brokened for others?

I recalled an incident that happened when we still had our Myanmar service in Dengkil some years back.

One of the Myanmar brothers came seeking for prayer for a huge goiter on the side of his neck.

When I saw his condition, any ounce of faith that was in me flew out of the window.

No clever sounding prayer was sufficient for the situation and subsequently my prayer was feeble and weak. However I did recall a wave of compassion came over me and all I wanted was for God to touch this man.

Many months later, I was told that this man was asking around for me and I found out that the huge goiter shrivelled up during the night after the prayer and the man received a miracle from the Lord.

That is the power of compassion in our prayers.

Passing Of My Aussie Pastor

Today I watched a dvd of the memorial service for Pastor Richard Holland who passed away at the age of 89.
I loved that man who epitomised for a me a pastor who is tireless in caring for others and believing God for miracles and healing. I am sure I am only one of the many great number of his spiritual children/grandchildren in Malaysia and other parts of Asia who remember him fondly and affectionately because of the powerful impact he has on our faith. Many loved him and will continue his legacy of persistent, genuine faith and sincere love for people all over the world. He truly is my spiritual father and hero.

I will miss him dearly.

Doing Church with a Purpose

I have been preaching to the church on a series called 'Learning How to Hear God's Voice' and I felt good about how it turned out.
Yesterday was the last one in the series and I do feel a sense of accomplishment.

There was a distinct leading of the Holy Spirit in all the 5 messages and that increased my confidence in my delivery. I am totally reliant on the Holy Spirit because our ministry must not be just good preaching but preaching in the power of the Holy Spirit with signs and wonders following.
I am also grateful to the Lord for giving us salvations almost every week; whether or not the message was directly evangelistic.
I have been telling the church that our Sunday services are 'public' and 'open' meetings so we must not try to be too religious in our liturgy. I desire New Life to be faithful in carrying out the 'Great Commission' not just conducting services for born-again Christians.
Visitors are often confused by overtly religious actions like speaking in tongues, 'free praise' (where the visitors are often at a lost as to what to do while the christians are merrily singing a new song or praising God) etc. Those who know me will tell you that I love to speak in tongues and being a true worshipper at heart, to spend extended time in praising God in the presence of the Holy Spirit. But there is a time and place for everything.
I have no problems with these activities and I often encourage the church to come out on Wednesday nights where we can speak in tongues, pray and engage in free praise as much as we want to.
We must be purposeful in our meetings.
If every meeting is geared towards christians, where can unbelievers come to Him?.
I am not apologetic for wanting to gear our Sunday services to be non-religious for the sake of those that the Lord is bringing in; our Monday nights for solid Bible teaching; our Wednesday nights for believers to engage in prayer and deeper spiritual activities and our Friday/Saturday(for the Youth) Cell meetings for the church family to fellowship, encourage and pray for one another.

An Interview With An 80-year-old Woman

The local news station was interviewing an 80-year-old lady because she had just gotten married --

for the fourth time.

The interviewer asked her questions about her life, about what it felt like to be marrying again at 80, and then about her new husband's occupation.

"He's a funeral director," she answered.

"Interesting," the newsman thought.

He then asked her if she wouldn't mind telling him a little about her first three husbands and

what they did for a living.

She paused for a few moments, needing time to reflect on all those years.

After a short time, a smile came to her faceand she answered proudly,

explaining that she'd first married a banker when she was in her early 20s,

then a circus ringmaster when i n her 40s,

later on a preacher when in her 60s,

and now in her 80s, a funeral director.

The interviewer looked at her, quite astonished, and asked why she had married four men

with such diverse careers.

She smiled and explained,

"I married one for the money,

two for the show,

three to get ready,

and four to go."

Gods' Grace to New Life

At the leaders' meeting this afternoon, I asked the leaders what they thought was our strength as a church. Some replies were:

Our friendship,

Our pastoral strength,

Our missions outreach,

Our worship (err.. this obviously this came from Bobby...ha..ha.. I like it when the leader in charge of the department is confident of his contributions... keep it up...Bob/Joanna),

Our giving,

Our team leadership,

Our 'bringing up people' programs,

Our Children church,

Our passion in prayer.

Certainly the Lord is gracious and has pour out His manifold grace upon our church and I am thankful for these and those that are not mentioned like our strength in cell group (both adults and youth) and our women power (hic) etc .
As I discussed this with your supervisors, we came to the conclusion that there are three strengths in New Life that will be like an engine that will drive these gifts and we summarized them in 3Fs.

1. Faith

Our desire to believe God for miracles and our breakthroughs in prayer.

2. Friendship

Our folks are great in reaching out through friendship and there is such a sense of love for one another

3. Fun

No need to teach our folks but they sure know how to have a good time. Life, ministry and service should be fun.

I shared with the leaders how God has established New Life for national impact and they are part of a team that will be a great blessing to the nations and to the nations of the world.

Vision of a Breaking Net
During our morning prayer time, Ps Lily saw a vision of a net at breaking point. This net was full of babies (souls) and she felt that the Lord asking us if there are enough hands to catch these ones when they fall through the net. If not, the babies will fall back into the savage sea.

Sis May Loke saw a similar vision and she travailed tearfully in the spirit for these souls. We prayed to the Lord to touch New Life folks as they watch the video series by Reinhard Bonnke that more will commit themselves to evangelism and caring for the new ones that will come to the Lord in the coming days.

Help us Lord, to equip our folks to be care-givers to new Christians!!

Give us a compassion for souls!!

Staff Devotion

Had a good time of devotion with the staff. Seah led us in an unfamiliar song on warfare and

there was a strong anointing to pray warfare prayers....that

'with God on our side, we are not warriors on the retreat but warriors on the advance...'

'we must arise and take the trophies that God has taken back from the devil on the cross...'

'those victories must be claimed by God's people....who put on the warrior's anointing...'

'we are 'more than conquerors... not just conquerors...but more than conquerors...'

'Jesus is the gatekeeper... and the doors are opened to us...'

'step in the house of God where there is abundance, healing, joy and peace....'

'live where God lives.... in heaven.... we can live in God's kingdom right now...don't have to wait until we die and go to heaven....'

'step into God's open doors by faith... only believe...'

'live in the 4th dimension which is where our spirit will thrive....'

A sister who visited us from China shared her gratefullness to the Lord for bringing her to New Life where she learned about love and unity.

THERE'S GONNA BE A REVIVAL

Dear Church,
Not only is God blessing the folks in New Life financially, He wants to rejuvenate and strengthen our inner man if we believe the prophetic visions and words that have been released by the Holy Spirit recently.

I was able to sense this new move of the spirit during one of the Sunday mornings as I went to the welcome centre to pray before the service. There were the usual number of folks praying and the ‘noise’ level was similar to other Sundays but spiritually, the decibel level was such as I have never felt in my spirit before. It felt as if there were rumblings in the heavenlies and at that moment, I heard in my spirit, the waves of revival being ushered in.

At the same time, my wife signalled me to their small group and asked me to listen to a vision that one of the sisters was just shown. In that vision, she saw a waterfall over the church and the water (Holy Spirit) was falling on us and filling up every valley. As the valleys were filled, plants (life) began to spring forth.

(Mmm…maybe, the sound that I heard was the sound of the waterfall??).

Folks, the valleys are low lying lands that represent lives that are spiritually low, dry and lifeless. As the Holy Spirit rains upon us, our inner man will come alive. Let this be our prayer.

Last Sunday, one sister came to me excitedly telling me that she saw a lot of gold dust falling on the church. I peeked at my palms to see if any gold dust had formed there because this phenomenon had happened in places where revival is taking place but alas, I only saw some wrinkly skin. Suffice to say, this vision is a prophetic message that God is pouring out His glory and our church will be revived if we continue to seek Him and be hungry for His presence.

At the altar last Sunday after the conscience stirring message by Pastor Hock, a brother told us how he was so deeply touched by the Lord that he wept profusely. The word of the Lord through him was that more miracles are coming and we as a church must do more and that we should not do just enough to satisfy our conscience.

Folks, are we prepared for the rain? An evangelist from India, Emmanuel Raj who passed through here last week said if we want a 100 fold from the Lord, we must sow in 1. Watch (prayer and seeking God’s face) 2. Word (Read God’s word) 3. Wealth (Tithes and offering) and 4. Work (Serve God).

Pr Raymond woke up on Wednesday morning with a dream from the Lord. In the dream, he saw the church, filled with many people and bustling with much joy and excitement. He woke up sensing that something was about to burst forth in New Life and God was able to do something exciting in the church. Let press on for more of His glory!!!

Love,
Pastor Ron Hee

BRAVE!!? umm....ME?

We had an Italian-Irish couple from London minister at the full-time pastors and staff devotion yesterday morning. Giancarlo and Catherine then prayed for each one of us with a gentle but powerful anointing of the Father's love. He spoke many prophetic words over us but for me but I could only recall that he said...uhh... I am a brave because I do not fear man. He exhorted me to be strong and courageous. I also remembered him prophesying about having the spirit of David. I could sense God's tangible anointing flowing very gently but powerfully from Giancarlo. As I lie on the floor, Catherine told me later, that she saw a very huge angel with its wings over me. Wow!! I always wondered where my angels were and how they looked like.

Raymond, Patrick and I took them out for lunch and since we discovered that they loved durians, we took them to a stall in SS2 and it was so pleasurable to see them enjoying the fruit. I have invited them back again to do a seminar on the 'Father heart of God' and he said that he will try to see if he could get John Arnott from Toronto Blessing for next year. It was a great joy to know this wonderful couple. You sometimes wondered how you can connect so well with certain people through just a chance meeting.

Supervisors' Retreat At Peacehaven
We just returned from an overnight retreat with the Supervisors. Inspite of my high standards, I must say it was a great time of bonding, fellowship, play (badminton and table tennis) and 'light-work'- great ingredients for a wonderful camp. I exhorted the team to make efforts to serve together as friends. I am a strong believer in the Spirit of God being free to move when we do not just engage our minds but we are relaxed enough with one another so that our hearts are being engaged with one another. I have experienced creative ideas being birthed forth because we do our reflection or discussion in the pool or a place where stress is reduced.

Despite the success of seeing New Life group of churches flourished, one regret of the twenty something odd years that JY, LC and I have served together is that we have not grown in our friendships. My family and Lawrence's used to go on holidays together but for some unknown reason, we have drifted apart and our relationship, although still strong, is now based mainly on our work in the church. The three of us have a wonderful working relationship with great mutual respect for one another but we have failed in the aspect of friendship. At the last R n R with the two of them, I suggested that we prioritize this aspect in our future goals. I hope it will birth forth a new generation of pastors who are friends.

GOD OF A BETTER TOMORROW

God is committed to bring us into a better future. One of the most quoted verses in Jer 29:11 tells us that in God is planning for us a better future that is blessed and full of hopes.

Ask Abraham- From barreness to having descendants like the stars in the sky and sand in the seashore;

Ask Joseph- From a slave to a Prime Minister

Ask the Israelites who were in bondage in Egypt- From slavery to a land that is flowing with milk and honey

Ask David- From a rejected shepherd boy to a Giant slayer to being the greatest King of Israel

Ask Paul- From a persecutor, full of hate to an apostle, full of love

Ask Mary Magdalene- From a prostitute to being a follower of Jesus

Ask Peter- From a fisherman to a fisher of man (3000 at his first sermon)

Ask Me

OUR DNA OF SUCCESS

At the Ampang Church today, I preached a message on our 'DNA of Success'. When God created Adam and Eve, He commanded them to be 'fruitful and multiply, subdue the earth and rule over the other creations'. God knew what Adam and Eve are capable of because He is the One who has placed with them the DNA or the capacity to do what they have been commanded to do. Friends, God has placed within us a DNA that destined us for success, for fruitfulness, or impact and for headship. Just as a pen is made to write, we are made for success. We need only to walk in this wonderful calling that God has placed within each of us.

A NEW MALAYSIA?

Folks, the results of the General Election last week was still quite unbelievable to many people. For me, I felt that God was sending a prophetic message to us who have been praying but not believing. We have fasted and we have prayed for 40 days every year for the nation and yet we have not believed the world that God can give birth to a nation in one day.

Isa 66:8 Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.

I am not aligned to either Barisan nor the Opposition but the cry in my heart was for our nation to be freed from racism, corruption and injustice. Looking at how things have remained unchanged for the last 50 years, I must confessed that I have lost hope and stood in the group of the 'ye of little faith'.

The election results was a rebuke for my unbelief, not so much because the Opposition has won but on believing that our national problems are too big for God and for not believing that God could do the impossible. God showed us that He is still in the business of parting the Red Sea.

Folks, I have been reminding the church that come on Wednesdays that we have been given the mandate to govern the nation through prayer and to be a prophetic voice to our nation. We are to be a house of prayer for the nations. Through prayer, we are called to possess the gates of the nations. Last Tuesday at the staff prayer gathering, Sis May felt that the Lord will raise up the church to possess the gates of media, education and business.

The Opposition has won 5 states and it remained to be seen if they can deliver on their promises. However let us not fall into the same trap of unbelief, that whether it is the Opposition or the Barisan who is in charge, it is our miracle-working God who is in control of the destiny of Malaysia.

Let's believe again….

This from Grace, my wife:

The new day has dawned ....
There is a dawning of a new day in the spiritual atmosphere of the land of Malaysia. The racial and religious walls put up by the politics of the past 50 years are coming down. The Malays are smiling with the Chinese, the Chinese are smiling with the Indians and so on. Suspicions are being stripped down. Malaysians has come of age. Malaysians have matured. The new generation of Malaysians want a new world order in Malaysia. This order calls for treating all Malaysians regardless of age, religion and race as one nationality - Giving everyone an opportunity to make an honest decent living without fear or favor. It calls for all the poor and needy to be helped regardless of race or religions. It calls for respect of each other as a unique culture. As we embrace our multicultural strength, Malaysia will hence forth rise to heights of greatness.

Political parties who have been given the mandates, don't disappoint Malaysia. We've given you a huge mandate to correct injustices and oppressions in our land. The impossible has become possible. Be a good steward of what you have been entrusted. Get rid of unrighteous policies, laws, practices and favoritism politics. Bring in the rule of law, plain old honesty, integrity and transparency.

Malaysians are believing again. They are believing that goodness exists - the democratic system we have in this land actually works. The glass celing above us has been cracked open. I believe from this day onwards, we will hear a new sound in Malaysia. Malaysia Boleh is no longer just a mantra, it is an actuality. We will no longer enter games finals only to buckle and lose under pressure because of the "glass ceiling". We will win because the land has seen what was deemed impossible become possible. We want a united land - a free land to live and build a legacy - for our families and for our beloved Malaysia.

The new day has dawned ....

English-Chinese Prayer Service

The combined prayer service with the Chinese speaking congregation last night was rather exciting and fresh. Prayer service should be done 'worship intercession' style like how we did last night. This was the second time that the two churches have come together to pray and I could see that members of both congregations came with a sense of expectancy and excitement. Maybe we should pray about having it on a weekly basis. There was a wonderful sense of unity and the worship team was able to lead songs that are bi-lingual so either congregation was able to enter into the praise and worship without much difficulty. In a vision, Grace saw the Lord giving us all new garments to dance and the Spirit coming to us like a dove. We went into a time of thanksgiving and I represented the church pastors in thanking God for every church member and one of the sisters responded by thanking the Lord for the pastors. I could sense a real sweet presence of the Lord and I felt it was from the spirit of unity in our midst. Yee Onn and I prayed for one another and the night ended with me blessing the two congregations. It was a blessed night.

Thank you Lord.

GOD IS GOING TO BREAK OUR HEARTS TO REVIVE US

This prophetic word is from a sister who heard a series of prophetic messages for New Life Churches as she prayed in one of the grottos on the prayer mountain in Seoul, Korea. The word for the church in Petaling Jaya is:"The Lord is going to break many hearts. Unless their hearts are broken and open to the Lord, the Lord cannot come in to rule. He wants to rule in the hearts. Otherwise you can't see revival. God will break their hearts. The breaking is coming. You shall experience pains, if not, there is no change, no revival. Breaking ... breaking ... breaking."

Psa 34:18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

Psa 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise

GOD HEALED CONTRACTOR'S DAUGHTER OF ASTHMA

A few weeks back, contractor G who is a non-believer visited the church and told me excitedly that since I prayed for his daughter a few months ago, her daughter no longer suffer from any more asthma attacks. He was so thankful and testified to another of our pastors again of God's power.
What was more incredible was that this prayer request for his daughter came from another non-Christian. A few months back, one of church members, Datuk B came looking for me. Apparently he was just talking to the building contractor who told him that his daughter has been suffering from asthmatic attacks very frequently. Datuk wanted me to pray for this man's daughter because he was so certain that God will heal the daughter. I was not sure if the contractor even believed in divine healing but I prayed anyway and praise God, God's touched his daughter and contractor G is now a witness of His power.
The Bible did said, 'To anyone who believe" didn't it? Healing is available to all who believed, isn't it? I think it was Datuk B's faith that released the healing. He believed in the Lord's power to heal.

DRAMA AT THE WEDDING

Jo's wedding at the Selangor Yacht Club was unique and beautiful. It was however a hot day. The groom and I were in suits and ties and before long, my body was dripping sweat inside and outside. To make matters worst, the organizers close the side doors because of the candle lighting ceremony to prevent the wind from extinguishing the fire. Sweat was dripping down the sides of my face and from my forehead into my eyes and the salt from the sweat stung. My right hand was holding the marriage folder and my left, the microphone so I could not reach in to get my handkerchief. In between 'to have and to hold, in sickness and in health', I wondered if I could stop for a few seconds to wipe the sweat off my eyes? I tried desperately to sound calm when it was all storm within. I was glad when I finally finished the ceremony but apparently no one knew what I was going through as the glare from the glass windows behind me has blinded their eyes to all the drama the minister was going through.
My wedding drama did not end there. Because of the heat, most of us who wore suits took off our coats and draped them over the chairs. Unbeknownst to me, I had left my coat next to Ps Chin Ban and when the dinner ceremony began, we took each other's coat by mistake. Ban wore my coat throughout the dinner as he MC the night but apparently our bodies must be quite similar in size and shape as he did not feel any difference. I had his coat draped over my seat throughout the dinner until the end when I discovered that the coat is not mine.

DRAMA OF THE WEEK

Last week, I conducting a wedding, visited three different hospitals (Sunway Medical, Assunta and Damansara Specialist)- one in the emergency ward and two in the ICUs and attended two memorial services. Talk about drama; last week was rather full of it. His grace was truly sufficient for me.
Bill Gothard spoke about crying out to the Lord (as different from praying to the Lord) and I did a lot of crying. Crying out is certainly prayer that is 'fervent' and it is effective as I proved it over and over again this week.

ARE YOU HAPPY?

Today I preached a sermon on 'Happiness'. I struggled with the topic because the words feels so flimsy and superficial...not words like 'Anointing' etc that makes me sound more spiritual. Having preached it, I am glad to be able to correct some misconceptions of Christians who often still live life like those who do not know the Lord. People are not happy because we often live for the future and not savor the life that we have now. There is a feeling of disatisfaction because the ads and the TV are often telling us how far short we have fallen from the Hollywood lifestyle that is bombarding our minds daily. The result is that we feel like failures and that makes us feel unhappy.
